The British Office of Gas and Electricity Market (Ofgem)’s Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) supports network innovation that contributes to achieving Net Zero while delivering net benefits to energy consumers. 

The funding was received for the LookNorthH2 project. LookNorthH2 is collaboration between National Gas, National Grid Transmission, NESO, CIP, Ørsted and Guidehouse.

Projects under SIF are funded in three phases: Discovery, Alpha, and Beta. The Discovery Phase focuses on feasibility, defining the problem the project aims to solve, and assessing the value of solving it. LookNortH2 successfully completed this phase and has now secured funding for the Alpha Phase. This phase focuses on experimental development, preparing, and testing various solutions to the identified problem ahead of any future large-scale demonstrations.
